As discussed in our last blog, iOS14 has caused advertisers to shift towards server-side tracking.

It’s vital to have your domain verified with Facebook in order to utilise server-side tracking, otherwise, you may be collecting data just through the pixel, which could result in under-reporting and data loss- something you want to avoid if you want to keep your ads performing.

Many advertisers treat this as an optional step but it’s actually key in the current Facebook ads landscape that has been hit so hard by iOS14.

Verifying your domain may sound difficult and complex, however, it’s actually relatively simple. Just follow our steps and you should be fine.

  • If you have Facebook Business Admin access, go to Business Settings > Brand Safety > Domain > Add Domain.

  • Add your domain in this format (eLTD+1): yourwebsiteurl.com

For example, if you were verifying the domain of Cool Bike Shop, you would type in coolbikeshop.com

  • Submit the Add Domain button.

  • There will be a drop-down menu to choose your method of verification. Select Meta-tag verification.

  • Hit Save.

  • Go to the Facebook tab again.

  • Refresh your page.

  • Click Verify Domain.

It can take some time to detect but you should see a success message.

Don’t skip this step and save yourself a ton of delivery and data-loss issues!

Hope this helps!
